Experient tobacco people in Brazil, who for decades managed the former Fumossul Company, founded Sul Continental de Tabacos Ltda. on June 14th, 1994, which later established partnership with G. F. Vaughan Tobacco Co., Inc. It was through experience, wisdom, motivation, honesty, credibility, excellence in all actions and, above all, teamwork and business vision that CTA-Continental was established and excelled in the tobacco sector.
In order to produce the highest quality tobaccos and surpass customer expectations, the company has invested heavily in its industrial complex, making it very modern and with capacity to process approximately 120 million kg of tobacco per crop.
CTA has an area of 41 hectares of land in the city of Venâncio Aires, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where currently there are 140 thousand square meters of constructed area distributed among factory, warehouses, offices, nursery school, cafeteria, recreation area, a training center and a social club for its employees. In addition, the company has four branches dedicated to tobacco purchasing in the towns of Araranguá, Ituporanga and Papanduva in the state of Santa Catarina, and Irati in the state of Paraná.
Tobacco production is derived from the excellent trust relationship the company maintains with over 14,000 integrated tobacco growers in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná.
Approximately 97% of CTA’s tobacco production is directed to the overseas market, exporting to over 50 countries, covering the North American, European (eastern and western), African, Middle Eastern, Latin American and Far Eastern markets. The company is certified by ISO 9001/2015 and has received the ADVB (Association of Brazilian Sales Leaders) Export Award in 1997, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
In 2017 CTA Continental signed an agreement with Hail & Cotton International Group, which acquired a percentage stake in the company.
